About the SVG format
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) describes an image as shapes and text instead of pixels, so it scales to any size without blurring and stays tiny for logos, icons and diagrams. Because it is not a pixel image, many services, editors and social networks cannot use it directly; converting it to PNG or JPG produces a normal picture at a fixed size.
About the WebP format
WebP is Google's modern image format, supported by every current browser. It compresses photos 25 to 35 percent better than JPG at the same quality, supports transparency like PNG and animation like GIF, and comes in lossy and lossless flavours. Its only drawback is older software that cannot open it.
Frequently asked questions
Why convert SVG to WebP?
WebP makes the smallest files of any widely supported format while keeping transparency, so pages load faster with no visible change. SVG is a vector file that many services, apps and social networks cannot display or accept as an image.
Does converting SVG to WebP lose quality?
WebP uses lossy compression, so a little detail is discarded to make the file smaller. At 85 percent quality or higher the difference is invisible for most images, and you can push the slider to 100 for maximum fidelity.
Is transparency preserved?
Yes. Both SVG and WebP support transparency, so transparent areas stay transparent in the converted image.
At what size is the SVG rendered?
At the width and height declared inside the SVG file; if it declares none, the browser picks a default size. For a bigger picture, set a larger width and height in the SVG before converting, or run the result through the resizer.
Can I convert several SVG files at once?
Yes. Add up to 5 images of up to 30 MB each, convert them in one go, and download the results one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Are my SVG images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to any server, so your pictures never leave your computer or phone.
Is the SVG to WebP converter free?
Yes, completely. No account, no watermark, and no limit beyond 30 MB per image. PixKit is supported by ads.
